Cruise Day 5 Rhodes

Today we woke up in Rhodes. The ship had docked early again and we all decided to let the masses head off into town before us and had a hearty breakfast. We were not all entirely sure what to do today but we all definitely wanted to visit Rhodes old town, as this was right opposite where the ship was docked we all walked off into town. 4 of us wanted to go to the beach and as we only have a few hours in Rhodes it was going to be a tight itinerary to fit it all in, but first we all wondered around the old town, its a beautiful place with shops bars and restaurants all in a historic walled area. We ended up almost at the end when a opening was seen and a possible taxi location so for of us pealed away from the other and went to catch a taxi. Now as I was one of the 4 I can only state report was we were told later in the day that they carried on in the old town for a bit and went back to the ship and the Windjammer and actually stayed there for almost 3 hours chatting away. Lorna Kelly Warren and myself managed to get a taxi and it was only 20 Euros to Falaraki beach, now earlier as we were getting off the ship a load of taxi drivers tried to convince us to use them at 35 Euros with discount so we were glad we walked around the town first. Now we only were going to have about 3 hours at the beach so we were pleased to see it was not busy and the taxi rank was right next to the beach, we got 4 sun loungers 10 Euros per couple and got a drink. Now in no time at all we were looking at the beach activities and opted for a speed boat pulling a inflatable, so we walked down to the kiosk and paid our 15 euros each and jumped on the inflatable the guy that was pullings us joked he had lots of coffee and was jumping to go, well after the slow exit form the beach he opened it up and straight away lorna started screaming and did not stop at all for the 15 minutes we were out there. It was a great ride and very funny. Now it was a shame we could not bring our cameras as they would almost certainly get wet or dropped into the sea so we had no images and this kind of prompted us to go on something that we could capture so we decided to go on Paragliding boat trip. This was 30 Euros each and we could go on the boat together and 2 each could go up. We headed out away from the beach and Lorna and myself went first, OMG I have done this before but the others had not but it was still a great experience, so quiet and fantastic views, I took my 360 camera up with me and Warren shot some photos from the boat. We were up for about 15 minutes and it was Kelly and Warrens turn. I videoed them going up and took some photos and they had a really good time. On the way back we got a great photo from the front of the boat. We now needed to get back to the ship so we cleaned up and got a taxi back to the ship, with about 40 minute to spare, went up to the Windjammer and caught up with the others for a late lunch. We had a quiet finish to the day and most of us relaxed in our rooms before meeting up again for our evening speciality meal in the Chops Grill. We had some drinks in the Schooner bar and then moved into the restaurant, Now this got interesting and funny fast, Warren had ordered 2 starters and one would take 15 minutes to prepare so we all had our starters including Warren and waited for his cold seafood tower to turn up, when it did we all could not believe the size of it and that it was a starter not main course, even Warren looked shocked and knowing he had also ordered the 16 oz Ribeye after was worried he would not finish it. We all helped a bit and then the steaks came out, the meal was really nice and combined with some lovely red wine was a nice relaxed evening. Now as mentioned before we were all feeling the effects of day in day out drinking and activities that we promised ourselves we would all be in bed by 11pm, but as we were now going up to the nightclub for some silent disco it was unlikely. Most of us had not experienced this before and when we got out the lift we thought it was not open but when we went in there were loads of people all dancing and some singing with headphones on, its a hilarious concept as there are 2 music choices you can choose from your headphones and you dance to those tunes but its almost better to watch without them on as everyone is screaming our singing to the songs it was a great night and it was responsible for breaking all our own promises of a early night, so as per usual we were the last to leave and headed back to the rooms, a great day and a fun y one as well
