Day 1 Athens
Well what an amazing sleep we all had, possibly a case of unconsciousness but a great rest either way, apart from Lorna was not feeling great, before we slept last night she decided she wanted to go for a walk to try and feel better but I would not let her leave the hotel so she walked around the 7th Floor for ages to try and shake off the nausea, 3500 steps later she was in bed. Anyway we all agreed to meet at 10am for breakfast on the rooftop and Bill was there first followed by myself and Lorna, JJ and Brandon eventually rolled up at 10:20 with only 10 minutes left of service. So after breakfast we all met down in reception to check out and meet our transfer to the port which was coming at 11:45. The drive to the port took about 30 minutes and our driver kept on driving past the ship, we kept shouting its hear but he carried on until eventually we screamed at him to stop. Check in was easy and in no time we were onboard the Star Legend. Now this is our first time on Windstar and it was a shock to the system as its a very small ship not something we are used too, but OMG what a lovely surprise, we found ourselves in the bar (strange that I know) and “Ace” our bartender kept us topped up until it was time to go to our muster station. The ship is lovely intimate and the staff are really friendly, our state room (413) was really nice and although not a balcony room is very spacious. Sail away was at 5pm so we went back up the the bar to settle down with a few drinks waiting for the sail away. The weather was amazing and they even had a great little band playing music to us all. The atmosphere onboard is very relaxed and even the dress attire is casual on every evening with no formal nights. So the drinks were flowing way to easiy and in not time it was time to head back to the rooms to get ready for tonights evening meal, they guys had booked 2 speciality meals but tonight we woulds be eating in the main restaurant. So a quick shower later we were down in one of the ships bars where they have the entertainment enjoying more drinks before the diner. We wandered down to the restaurant at about 7:45 and got seated and we were now all on red wine which was lovely Greek version on Pinot, it was so nice and Brandon was polishing them off at a very high rate, the meal was really nice and the wine kept flowing all night, at some point the waiter told us that they only had 16 bottles left, I think he was worried that we would end up drinking all of them on day 1. With no surprise to us we ended up being the last ones left and then we were told that they had no wine left as they brought the so called last bottle to the table so we asked if they could leave it with us which they did and then we left the restaurant walking with wine glasses and a bottle in hand, on the way to the club area we stopped off in the shop and Bill was horrified they we were in there with red wine in our hands and the shop assistant did look a little worried, but there was no spills. We finished off the night dancing to the ships singer and had a fantastic night. All a bit boozy and I am sure there will be a few sore heads in the morning.
