Day 13
This morning was a happy time for me, not so for Lorna. I was glad to be leaving Las vegas behind, and heading out of Nevada, Casinos and high prices were driving me crazy. We spent $2,000 between us in 2 days, and that was without hotel bills as this was complimentary. We only changed up $200 for gambling so the rest was for food/drink and the Show. Last night we ate at the Bellagio’s Chinese restaurant which was lovely. The show was very good, the choreography was fantastic considering the duration of the show and the skill levels required. We had great seats. 2 back from front centre, so were right in amongst the action which got us wet at times, but it was worth it. Today we had quite a long journey to Flagstaff in Arizona which took us across the Hover Dam and then some pretty boring scenery, until we needed some petrol we got off the Interstate and jumped onto the old Route 66 in a town called Seligman or as Lorna called it Radiator Springs this was because of the “Cars” characters, as this old shop/bar/tourist attraction had a load of old cars painted up to look like Mater & the crew from the film. After we fuelled up we jumped back on the Interstate straight into a huge Storm, so bad, we had to slow down to about 25MPH because we were worried that the windscreen was going to crack as there was hail stones about 10mm in size pounding down on us. We didn’t want to risk it so we pulled up at a gas station to wait for it to pass. With about 1 hour left we pushed for Flagstaff and checked in to a nice Radisson Hotel and chilled out and planned our next 2 days before we hit palm Springs.
