Day 13

The weather didn’t break so we decided to head off towards Utah and eventually Las Vegas. We were warned that a storm was heading our way. So not wanting to get caught out we left the wonderful town of Breckenridge. We took the interstate 70 West as it took in most of the Colorado River and Rockies, which was great to see. However the first 90 minutes was pretty hairy as we were still high up and the roads were covered with snow and ice. So after 2 stressful hours the snow broke and the long awaited sun appeared again. We had about 505 miles to Vegas and had no intention on trying it in one hit so we
decided to drive about 300 miles and stop over. It was just as well we had to stop for petrol at about 240 miles as the attendant warned us that after the next exit which was 20 miles away the roads were closed due to a storm and snow cover and the next exit was 120 miles later. So if it wasn’t for the fact that we needed petrol we could have got caught out and stranded. We stopped off in a town called Green River in Utah In a Comfort Inn which had much needed laundry service (self service) so Lorna was in her element loading up washing machines and doing something that she has missed for almost two weeks (sad oh). So tomorrow we head fro Las Vegas and a clean set of clothes. Well they need to be clean when the casinos rob the shirts from our backs. More to come.
