Day 14 Dubai

Well its our last full day on this cruise and we have quite the lineup today, we arranged to meet this morning at 12 to take a taxi towards the Palm area to catch a helicopter ride for 17 minutes around various landmarks, so we got into a taxi at about 12:30 and gave our directions our flight was not until 2pm but believe it or not we had to get there before 1:15pm or the gate closes, we didn’t realise just how far it was so the taxi driver put his foot down and we got there just after 1pm, it was actually inside the police academy which was weird as we had to get a min i bus to the terminal, when we arrived it was like a mini airport there were 2 helicopters flying back to back and there was about 30 people in the terminal waiting their turn.
We had to go through a briefing and was also told we could not take selfie sticks or any devices with leads which was a shame as I wanted to record the audio through one the headsets, the other thing was we were told where we were sitting based on our weight, so me and Colm were sat in the middle away from the windows which sucked as I wanted to get some good videos, either way the trip was great the weather was perfect and we got too see all the things in the itinerary, we laded after 17 minutes and was ushered off to allow the next 5 to get onboard. OK we got a taxi to meet us at the entrance and got the mini bus back to meet it, we told the driver to take us to the Dubai Mall as we were now going to see the Burj Kalifa, as we didn’t know what time we would get there we didn’t book a ticket so when we got to the desk we were told that only vip on deck 148 was available so the girls booked it, we should have realised something was not quite right when we were told we had a 2 hour window to just turn up and go to the lounge and not queue. We were hungry so now we had our tickets and a 2 hour window we got some late lunch at Subway ,it was now that Tamsyn got here calculator out and worked out how much the tickets had cost and we worked it out to about £110 each, to go up a elevator and look out over the city. We laughed it off eventually and headed back to the vip lounge, the one good this is me and Lorna have been here before but not to the 148th floor was it going to be worth it, well to be honest it was, because it was so busy the queues up and down would take ages and we had fast track in fact the 4 of us had our own elevator up to floor 148. We looked around and got some pictures and videos and then got our fast track elevator back down again, we walked through the mall to show Colm and Tamsyn the huge aquarium and then we walked out looking for a taxi but we were in the wrong spot but this guy accosted us and asked us of we needed a tax, we knew he was not a taxi but negotiated a price anyway as the queues were huge for the taxis as well. We got back to the ship and finalised our packing as we are leaving tomorrow morning, tonight we are eating in the Steak restaurant but not before saying goodbye to the guys in the Pub. We said our farewells and walked down to the restaurant, we had a great meal but we were all so full when we left so much so most of the night was spent groaning about our bellies being so bloated.
