Day 16
Well today was going to be the start of some real fun, so we have put the last 2 weeks behind us and are grabbing the opportunities that are now on offer and today was no exception, Ken and Sandy are now with us and they have definitely picked the right place to start, they were awake at 5:00am this morning thanks to jet lag but were keen to get out and explore the City.
First on the list after breakfast was the Olympic park and some mountain biking, well this was always going to be a laugh but OMG when we got there it was all full of teenagers and fit young athletes then us old cronies turn up and join in, you should have seen us I looked like Po out of the tele tubbies with my camera on my helmet and Sandy was not looking too confident, we had to go up a chair lift and then choose a run just like with skiing, the easiest run was a green one and the start of it looked pretty hard and we all gave it a go. Sandy found it a bit intimidating but soldiered on until she had a fall which me and Ken missed because we were hacking ahead, but Lorna saw it and apparently it was legendary. So after a slow ride down, Sandy decided to call it quits and the rest of us went up again to do the same run. We all flew off down quite a lot faster than before and at some points it was looking like we were all going to stack it. Lorna was screaming behind me and Ken did really well until a tree got in the way and won the Argument. We all really enjoyed the run down but it was really hot and after we got to the bottom thought it was better to quit while we were ahead. Great fun. Afterwards we headed for the Calgary heritage park which was much less demanding on us, we was doing so well up until the waitress that served us lunch ruined it by being really rude, forgetful and no doubt pissed off after we left her no tip. Anyway we walked around the park that took us through various sections of the park that portray different times and the way people lived, we even took a ride on a old steam train. We were knackered by the end of it and was looking forward to a drink in our hotels bar.
Tonight is the last night in this hotel so we are eating again in the Italian restaurant, not sure what we are doing tomorrow but I am sure it will be a laugh.
