Day 4

Well today we started the road trip good and proper by heading towards Tulsa some 5 hour drive, we stopped once for a coffee and driver change and arrived in Tulsa at the Post Oak Lodge which is a lovely hotel set in large grounds that boasts lakes, trails and log cabins. The really funny thing was as its Thanksgiving we turned up to an empty car park and what looked like a deserted hotel. We pushed on the door and “It Opened” surprised we walked in and the first thing I said to Lorna was. “HEARS JOHNNY” it looked just like the lodge in the film “The Shining” with Jack Nicholson. Anyway Randy greeted us and very politely told us that he was the only one here and the Bar and Restaurant would not be open this night because of Thanksgiving. So we were not best pleased but he was a nice guy so we drove down to our delightful lodge. He told us about a Hotel that always catered for the traditional Thanksgiving meal by the thousands so we punched it in the SatNav and headed off for a hearty meal. The Hotel was great and our timing could not have been better we slipped in after 20 mins and a beer and had a great meal. The highlight was the chocolate fountain “mmmm chocolate good” BUT we did not take any cameras so sorry no shots.
