Day 6

Well after a late and heavy night we were all feeling a bit tired but we still had to keep on riding, it had rained through the night so the bikes needed a good wipe down, we were going to Carmel By the Sea this morning and then to a 17 mile scenic route at Pebble Beach where the golf course is, We got to Carmel really quickly as it was only a couple of miles away, but we still managed to lose the SUV, we all walked along the beach and took some great photos. After that we jumped back on our bikes and rode to Pebble Beach but we were told that they did not allow motorcycles around the route, so we were a bit annoyed about that but there was nothing we could do about it so we just pushed onto the Santa Cruz , it was funny though because when we left Carmel we had to ride though some pretty steep and tight turns and Paul had Rory on the back and had to use all of the road to turn round one corner it was well dodgy. We got to Santa Cruz at about lunch time and the ride up was lovely, this part of the US1 was hugging the coastline and it was great. Santa Cruz is a nice place and has a huge fair ground on the beach but none of us was keen on going so we took some pictures instead and went to have some lunch, this was at “Betty Burgers”, were we all had one of her burgers and her secret lube, Don’t ask !. From her we then thought we would try and get to a town just south of San Francisco, the route up was great with some really nice beaches and great scenery. We noticed a huge sculpture of a motorcycle so we stopped to take some pics, it turned out to be a really cool bike shop, most of us got something and the most common item was a face tube, we all needed a bit more insulation around the neck as it was very cold on the bikes with the wind. Now we are all wrapped up we continued up US1 north to Waddell Beach where there was loads of kite surfers, it was great to watch and some of them would get some serious “air”. From there we pushed on to Half Moon Bay where we found a cheap motel and checked in for the night, some of the guys walked down to a bar for a drink and me and Jeff stopped in the room where I caught up with the website and work, its been a shame because there has been no internet the last couple of days or very flaky at best. So it was a good time to catch up, Jeff had a nap, I think he is feeling the pain of being with a bunch of British piss heads and last night took its toll I think. For diner tonight we walked down to a Tai Restaurant, which didn’t look to inviting, but the food was really nice. It was a fairly easy night compared to most so we all got back to the room in a reasonable state and got to bed quite early.
