Day 7 Cagliari Sardinia

Good morning from Sardinia, none of us have been here before and today we were going to see a portion of Cagliari by E-Bike, Lorna had arranged this a few days ago but we were not meeting the company until 10:30 this morning, so as per usual we had break fast in the room and as we had to get a bus out of the port and a taxi to the shop we left the ship at about 9:50. We got out of the port but struggled to find a Taxi, its been strange but in most of the port we have docked in there has been no Taxis waiting for fares outside the port, anyway we eventually found a rank but there were no min vans so we had to get 2 taxis, Lorna dn Brandon got in one and the three of us got into another we had the address and set off our driver was a typical Italian crazy loon, driving so fast and with his dance music full blast the trip to the shop we a memorable one for all the wrong reasons. When we got close to where the pace was it seemed like a load of apartments and no shops, so we pulled over where it should be and Lorna called the operator and put the taxi driver on, 20 seconds later a metal garage door opened and a guy came out and said “Lorna” it turned out the tour was run from a private lock up garage, but it was cheap and the bikes look OK, we got on the bikes after a few adjustments and set off, todays ride was going through the old town and then out to the nature park to see the salt flats and Flamingos. The route was Ok a bit hazardous in places but there were loads of cycle paths we took so no real problem. We got out of town and started to see flatter and more open spaces with salt lakes etc. We got to see a load of Flamingos and also a river full of dead fish, now the dead fish was due to a storm that caused the river to be contaminated with dust so the oxygen levels dropped so low that most of the fish died except for the tiny ones.
We got to the beach which was lovely and we stopped for a beer and some chips, Sandro our guide looked over the bikes while we relaxed, we then only had about 45 minutes to get back as they had another tour after us, we were riding down this wide cycle path but it was very busy as it was a holiday and there were loads of people just walking around. Sandro was in front with me behind and JJ behind me and all of a sudden me and Sandro had to do a emergency stop as 2 people just stepped out in front of us, well JJ was holding his phone taking photos looking at the screen and didn’t have time to respond, he frantically tried to stop but went down like a sack of shit, Lorna screamed I looked round as JJ shouted “Fucking hell Deboo don’t break like that” It was so funny seeing him under the bike with loads of people looking at him, he wasn’t hurt in any way just his pride.
Well for the next 20 minutes I struggled to stay on my bike from laughing, anyway we got back eventually on time and said goodbye to Sandro, he handed us some hand made memos like fridge magnets which was really nice of him.
He also said that we didn’t have to get a taxi back and showed us on a map how to walk it back in 10 minutes, So we said our goodbyes and started to walk back well about 1 hour later we finally found the ship, it was then that we thought it would be good to try and find a pizza again in the food area, so we wandered around trying to find a pizza restaurant, well as you probably guessed it we could not find a single place that served Pizza, well we did but it was closed. So we walked back to the ship and went into Brandons room and ordered a load of room service meals burgers etc. 20 mins later 2 waiters turned up carrying trays full of food which we promptly demolished. It was around 4 ish and we all thought we will struggle later but we were so hungry we needed it, we had a few drinks and then went to our rooms to have a relaxing few hours and the shower for dinner later in the main restaurant. Bill talked about getting off the ship and going back into town as we are here until 12pm tonight but I doubt he did that. It turned out that JJ and Brandon got off the ship again and did a bit of shopping. Myself Bill and Lorna went down to the bar while JJ and Brandon got ready and had a few drinks, they joined as a bit later and as this was our last night we figured a few drinks and a late ish night was in order. We had our dinner in the main restaurant and afterwards we went up to the theatre as there was a show put on by the crew starting at 9:30 but as we had a late meal we caught then end of it which was good as our cabin attendant Sangeeth told us he was on last so we waited and he and a few other crew members came out dressed in swimming short goggles and put on a synchronised swimming show which was very funny, as we knew this was the last part we left straight away after it finished and went to the main bar for some more drinks and maybe a dance until late. We did stay up late but no dancing as the music choice was a bit dated and none of us fancied it, there was a drinks spillage as per usual Brandon was trying to look after Lorna as she stood up but it ended in a mess. So as it was our second from last full day/night it didnt finish the way we wanted but it was still a great day
