Dec 24th. Day 15 Sedona AZ
OK so after another great nights sleep, (sorry but sleep has been the hardest achievable thing on this trip so far), we popped downstairs for breakfast and the whole place was full of families still in there PJ’s.
We couldn’t go to the Grand Canyon yesterday so as Sedona was only a few hours away we decided to go this morning and like most days the weather did not let us down, clear blue skies and actually probably the warmest day so far, we headed out of Williams and drove up to the park’s entrance, we noticed out of the three kiosks one guy stopped, and then backed up, but the entrance was open. So we quickly jumped into the line and drove up to the desk, there was nobody there and the barrier was up, so we just drove through saving $35.
We looked into our rear view and loads of other cars were following us in without stopping so thanks Grand Canyon for the early Christmas present. Now we didn’t feel so bad as we were only going to stop for about 30-40 mins for some great shots and thats what we got, it was crazy busy but we got what we wanted and then pushed on. We had to drive back the way we came but Sedona was only about an hour away and this would be our final stop for 5 days as we settled down for Christmas.
Before we went straight to Sedona we had to stop for some Christmas dinner supplies so we stopped at a Walmart in Flagstaff which turned out to be not that great, we got most of what we wanted but not everything so we decided to go straight to the hotel and unload what we had and our cases and then go off and find something local for the rest.
We pulled up outside the resort and was met by a friendly lady who knew we were coming and also presented us with our Christmas pudding which we had delivered by Amazon a few days ago and presented us with our keys to our home for 5 days, a 1 bed suite in a nice quiet spot on the resort with partial views of the mountains, OMG this place is great (so far).
But we were drained and needed food and drink, but first we settled for some Kraken & Cokes which we had purchased from Safeway earlier. OMG these hit the spot and would ease us into the night with a nice meal in one of the resorts restaurants, we were back in our room by about 8pm where we had to pack some pressies and also put up some decorations that Lorna got earlier.
So by 8:45 we had the place looking all festive and presents by the fire and we were watching Christmas movies thanks to our Fire stick. What a great way to almost finish the trip with a wind down period in this lovely part of the country.
We would just like to say we both hope that all our friends and Family have a fantastic Christmas and have a Happy and Prosperous New Year. Love to you all form the both of us XX.
