Day 6 Palermo Scicily
This morning we met in the restaurant for breakfast as we were getting off the ship today for a e-bike tour it was raining but not cold so we went ahead with it anyway. Ken, Sandy and Paula didn’t fancy it so got off and had a day in the town on there own. We were escorted off the ship by a butler who also gave us all ponchos. We met up with the lady from the shop who walked us around to there shop which was only a few meters from the port. We all signed our waivers got our bikes and Lara our guide took us on a trip around Palermo. The weather was not good but we pushed on regardless Lara had us stop regularly and told us all about various buildings and areas of the city, we even got to sample some street food which was all part of the tour. The rain came and went, and on occasion was heavy, but we pushed on. Lara was great and 3 hours later we were pulling into the shop where it all started. We headed back to the ship and proceeded to the pool deck to meet the others and have a late lunch. Paula Ken and Sandy said they had taken the little train around town and enjoyed it. Just as we finished our lunch the skies opened and we could not get enough cover so we came inside and went down to the bar on the 16th deck. So we hung around for a while and then we had had enough and went back to our rooms ready for the evening we were all a bit disappointed with the weather today and hoped that tomorrow would be better. We all met back in the bar later it was obvious we were all flagging a bit compared to when we first arrived. I think the continuous drinking and late nights were effecting us all, Tracy was clearly not great as yesterday’s indulgent meal played havoc with her IBS and the cold didn’t help either so her early retirement was probably the best move for her. The rest if us enjoyed our meal and during the meal we secured a great deal for 5 bottles of Laurant-perrier rose champagne for tomorrow’s sea day on the pool deck we pulled a double anniversary for both me Lorna and Rob and Paula.
We had a good meal not great but ok and we decided on a nightcap in the bar before bed. A great day shame about the weather we are all apprehensive that tomorrow’s day at sea will be a sunny one. So off to bed for a well deserved rest.
