Day 3 Ronda to Marbella and back
Firstly please be aware that due to time constraints todays video has not been fully edited and the ride section is about 1 hour long.
Today was a slightly easier day for us all as we had no real long riding today and before we could start we had to sort out Derek´s bike, this was after breakfast of course which this morning was in the hotels cafe set next door to the hotel, it wasn’t included in the price which meant it was “Not Worth It” as it was basic but it meant we had some food inside us, so after breakfast Derek rode his bike to a nearby car park to give himself a nice open and level ground to change out his front disk pads as his own were completely shot, as today we were going to hit the twisties he most definitely needed front brakes.
To be fair he got them changed in no time and not before long we were ready to head out. We got ready and met outside and was ready to go on our pre planned Ronda Day 1 ride, this meant riding over the famous bridge BUT, there was some kind of festival going on so there was no way we were going that way, and there was no alternative route that we could find, so we improvised and chose the Ronda Day 2 ride instead, so after some random riding through town we were heading down towards Marbella on some fantastic roads. To start with, is was fair going, in fact we had to ride the same roads we took into Ronda yesterday, but in no time we were heading south on some great roads through a national park, the roads were fantastic and after a couple of hours and increasing temps we were getting hot and tired so we looked for somewhere to stop for a drink, its amazing that so many great little towns do not have anywhere to stop at, or if they do they are closed, so it took a while but eventually we rode into a small village and there were 3 cafes next to each other with a lot of people in them, so we parked the bikes in the shade and sat down and relaxed and took on some well needed fluids.
We had about 30kms to go to get to Marbella so we decided not to eat at this location but stop on the beach for lunch, we headed off down to the rich mans playground. We eventually rolled into town and it literally took less than 2 minutes before we could see a couple of Ferraris posing down the strip. Well we thought we looked even more impressive with our black dragger jeans jackets and boots walking through town in 30c heat, so needless to say we settled pretty quick on a venue for lunch, as it turned out we found a good little place shaped like a galleon which had outside seating but more importantly had the misters blasting to keep us cool. We sat on this table which non of us realised rotated very slowly. We almost at the same time reacted with a look of complete confusion as the bar that was in front of us was now behind us, we put this down to being too hot and tired but it was a moment where you needed to be there to appreciate.
We finished off our lunch which was actually really nice and walked back to the bikes. We had a 1 hour ride back to Ronda through some great roads and was happy to be back on the road cooling down a little. The scenery back was amazing and the ride was equally rewarding. We rolled into Ronda at about 4pm and parked the bikes and headed back to clean up. We were all really tired well me and Derek were, Cliff was still claiming he was fine but we soon realised that we had not taken in any water today and we were seriously dehydrated.
We showered and met up at 4:30pm and walked into town to look for a suitable place for a few drinks, but strangely enough we ended up in the first bar we went too on our first night in the square.
Our intension was to have a few beers and maybe head back to the hotel and come out later for a meal but we suddenly found ourselves re activated after a few litres of water each and obviously beers as well, so we ended up staying there and then had a pizza each which was absolutely great. Cliff even had a dona kebab pizza which was amazing. Thinking we were happy with the food we had a few more drinks and was almost ready to to leave when Cliff decided he wanted another meal, so he ordered a prawn dish and we just looked on in amazement, so it meant we needed more beers while we waited for him to finish of. It was not a late night tonight and I think we were all happy to have a early night especially Cliff who has been on the road for a long time, so we said goodnight at about 10:15pm and headed back to our rooms for a early night.
A fantastic days riding today with near perfect weather.
