Portugal to Dubai

So this morning we got up nice and early to get to Faro airport to meet Colm and Tamsyn for 9am. Roger took us and we meet just as the check in opened. The airport was nice and quiet so it was a quick process. We ended up getting slightly delayed at security as usual because of all my gear, so Colm and Tams went ahead to get some drinks in the Irish bar. We got to them just as the drinks turned up (perfect timing) and chinked our glasses for what I am sure will be the first of many.
We got onto the plane and all was looking good until the captain came on to say we would be delayed because of fog in Lisbon. We were thankful our bags were checked in all the way to Dubai so providing we got there with 30 minutes to spare we should be.ok.
Well we landed and we were ushered to our gate but they had not started to board so we were fine. Soon after a few minutes we boarded our flight to Dubai. The flight was great as we had nobody between us so well comfortable.
The only thing was Dubai is 4 hours ahead so we wouldn’t land until 1am Saturday local time. We got off the plane and went to belt 3 and hoped our bags would be there, and sure enough they were the first 4 bags off, result. So we headed to the taxi rank and just as we were about to get into our ride to the hotel Tamsyn realised she had left her handbag at security so they had to rush back to retrieve it. 20 minutes later they appeared with the bag and a look of relief.
We got into a taxi and took the 10 minute ride to our stop for tonight, the Hilton which is really close to the cruise port. We checked in and ordered some room service as we were really hungry. 30 minutes later a cheeseburger and fries and a Tiger beer was being appreciated and then at about 4am local time we went to sleep. A really long day but we are here and the fun can now begin. Tomorrow we board our ship to start our 2 week adventure around the middle East.

Sorry no real photos from today.
