Day 8 At Sea

So at 4am on a toilet run we were still docked in Valencia, so it didn’t look like they had fixed the issue. We eventually woke up at around 7am and a look out of the window showed we were in fact at sea and on our way to Genoa. Now our main concern was how the hell we were going to get back home, the reason we picked Marseille was because it was the only port we could get too fairly easily, so now we were tasked with coming up with a plan. We did not know what time we were going to arrive in Genoa tomorrow but we knew we would be at sea all day today and quite possible a big chuck of tomorrow all of which made making plans very hard. I downloaded a app to show our current speed and also another to show how many nautical miles we had left from our current position, the results were not good, I worked out we still had around 33 hours to get to Genoa which put us in at about 8pm on Saturday the 21st. So obviously we would not be travelling home on Saturday so now we had to work a route on Sunday, It took bloody hours and so many options that we figured the best option would be to get a train to Milan from Genoa very early on Sunday from a hotel near the station and take the train to the airport which would take around 2 hours then fly direct to Lisbon on TAP which would get us there at around 1:40pm and then maybe get a hire car or train back to Albufeira. So most of the day was spent around the pool wondering what time we would get to Genoa and at around 5:30 we had a announcement that we would arrive at 7:30pm on Saturday, so after we cleaned up most of the next few hours was spent dealing with trains flights and car hire. So we had a route planned but right at the last minute we realised the Milan airport was over a hour away from the train station by this time we all were so pissed off.  So as we had flights booked from Marseille fir Saturday we thought if we could move them to Sunday then msc could get us to Marseille in a hotel and we could get home. So I popped down to Raj and he put in a request fir us to leave the port and go straight to Marseille put us in a hotel near the airport and then we can catch our flight to Lisbon. From there the original flight was booked so we will either get a train or rent a car. The whole thing has been a complete nightmare we will still have a full day at sea tomorrow, so with the transfer its going to be a long day.
