Day 10
Well not much to report today as we spent a lot of time on the road. We originally intended staying in Denver for a few days so we checked out this morning and headed to Denver. When we got there we located a few hotels and they wanted to charge us a fortune and after looking around town we decided that it was not for us and decided to move on. So we thought we would head towards the skiing areas of Vale, Aspen and Breckenridge. We decided on Breckenridge first as it was the closest. The journey in was Ok until we started a huge incline before the resorts. Most people were pulling over and fitting chains to there vehicles, this I think got Lorna a bit uneasy, but we were fine we slipped into a low gear and took it easy and got there some 2 hours later. The resort is fantastic and has heated pathways and a lovely feel. We tried out a few hotels first and decided on our third one the “Great Divide Lodge” which has ski in ski out facilities and underground heated parking, the latter is a must as its bloody cold and snowing and it freezes in no time to the glass. The room and hotel is fine and we have a large room with two King beds. We are going to hire the gear tomorrow and will probably need to buy some goggles as it’s forecasted for snow. Its not that expensive as we expected, in fact about half the price of the hotels we tried in Denver and a whole lot more fun to stay in. So stay tuned and
hopefully we will have more to look at tomorrow.
