Day 9

The Royal Gorge in Garden City today was our destination and we arrived there at about 11:00 to find we were the only ones there apart from about 6 people. It looked closed but we were glad it was not as it took us an hour to get there. It was worth it, as it has the world’s highest suspension bridge. Lorna felt a bit anxious when we drove over it as it became apparent that the surface was made up of individual planks of wood that get replaced every 2 years and are loosely attached which caused the bridge to vibrate and make a loud noise that sounded like it was going to fall to bits. We walked to the centre then I started to feel a bit uneasy (not great on heights) after that we decided to take the
inclination railway down to the bottom to have a look up at the huge gorge. It was really nice to be there alone as we didn’t have to wait for anything. Then we stopped off at a shopping Mall to buy some clothes, I managed to get some great bargains. Then on to TGI Fridays for a late lunch before heading back to the hotel and our last night here. Tomorrow we are either going to head to Denver or maybe Aspen. Not sure stay tuned and find out.
