Day 12 Muscat Oman

Today we are in Oman and the port we are at is Muscat, so we was going to go to the famous mosque called the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque but as we allowed ourselves a little lie in this morning we missed it, we didn’t know it closed to the public at 11am and we would not make it. So we decided to get the free shuttle bus to the ports main entrance and walk into town. So we got onboard the really old bus that took us to the gate and we then walked down towards the main souk today is really hot and its great to feel the heat on our backs, we got to the souk and the 4 of us walked through until the girls were tempted in by fake designer scarfs, Colm and me waited outside and watched the people go by, the girls were in a there a long time and when they appeared by the door with bags in their hands the shop owner was also with them ushering us to follow him, it appeared that Tamsyn’s friend who gave here some old currency from a previous trip had given here some out of date notes so the shop owner was going to get them changed at the bank. We waited outside and he appeared with new bank notes and gave Tams the change, it was only when we were walking away that the fantastic deal the girls thought they got was not that great, they had worked out the exchange rate and paid more for the 7 scarfs than they bargained for. We laugh it off walked towards a cafe for some lunch and drinks. We all ordered some local food and it turned up and surprised us it was actually really nice and good value in the end. We continued down the road towards a fort that was high up on the hillside to get some photos before heading back to the ship. We got back onboard at about 3:30pm and as we were having another spa treatment at 5 I went back to the room to catch up on this and the rest chilled out in the hot tub up on deck for 30 minutes, once we all got back to the rooms we got ready for tonight, now we were originally going to get dressed up for the white party but it doesn’t start until 11:30pm and its up on deck 15 but we all decided as we were getting up early tomorrow and it would probably be very cold up there we would not get dressed in white, plus Colm and Tams were not eating with us tonight as we are in the steak restaurant again tonight, so we agreed to meet for a nightcap after our meals. It was funny as we were sat down having our great steak meal Tams sent over a text message with a image of some shot glasses they said they got from the Captain trying to make us feel we were missing out, but we were able to piss all over that yarn as the Captain was sat on the table next to us, so we sent that image back LOL. Our meal was really nice and feeling full we met in a bar on the 6th deck for a last drink before bed. When we got to the room we could see a message saying our meeting time had moved to 10:15am now and we had to use a tender to get off, so not such a early start overall.
