Day 2 Monfortinho

This morning we seemed to miss the alarm  way too many drinks yesterday but we woke in time for our 9.30am breakfast which was really nice but we weren’t that hungry so settled for a few coffees and pastries. Then we headed back to the room to pack and get ready for today’s drive. I walked down to the car park while Lorna checked us out. I had a bit of a issue with the car park gate I used the card key to open it then drove round having heard I had to get out and push a button, well I hit the button and the door started to open I walked back to the car then the gate stopped so I went back hit the button then it closed hit it again started to open waited a bit longer this time walked back, the bloody door stopped. I then realised that there was a beam of light I was breaking each time I walked back. So this time got the door to open jumped about 3 foot in the air over the beam and got out, all in 38c heat.

I drove back to the hotel scooped up Lorna and we were off towards Marvao. 90 minutes later we rolled up in the amazing town of Marvao. It was 40c and we parked the car and walked around the town. Such a lovely place but we were gasping so we stopped for a drink before walking back to the car. Omg we were knackered by the time we got to the car. The trip onwards was another 90 minutes to our stop for the night. The route actually took us into Spain for around a hour and the terrain was level and barron  Lorna was seriously getting worried as we only had about 200ml of water and it was 41c outside and no traffic or towns for bloody ages, if we broke down God knows what would have happened. But we made it ok and rolled into the car park at around 2.30pm checked in to our room changed and went poolside it wasn’t long before we had a cold drink and the biggest toasted cheese and ham sandwich each. A swim cooled us down and the rest of the day was spent chilling out, well that was until a tree just snapped in half and fell down 50 meters from us. Basically it was drained of all life and rotten from the heat  Have never seen that before.

We went back to the room to shower and get ready for tonights gamble on the food. We had a few drinks first outside and walked down just before 8pm but the restaurant was not open, apparently it opened at 8pm sharp and a few minutes later we walked in and got a table outside it was hot but bearable, the meal was actually OK and cheap so we were happy compared to last night. Lorna loved the house wine also. So with a quick nightcap in the bar we called it a night at around 11pm.
