Day 5 Messina Sicily

Good morning from Sicily so now we are in Italy region and will be here from 10am this morning to 5pm tonight not only that we gained 2 hours this morning so had a nice extra lie in. Lorna dn me even had breakfast in our room which was lush and we might have that every day now. We all got together and decided to explore the town of Messina on our own, we were not bothered about taking coaches with other guests to places so we walked around town, Unfortunately as it was Sunday and Italy there was not a lot open but we found ourselves in a Piazza where there was a interesting church and clock tower, we all paid the 4 euros to climb to the top but we were told we had to be out by 12 as there was a little 12 minute show, we had no idea what that could have been until we climbed the stairs and could see mechanical moving pieces on each level, so we took a few photos I hit my head on a stone overhang and cracked a cut on my skull and then we went to the top to see the view, we took a few photos and headed back down just as we were right next to the bells they struck, apparently they sound every 15 minutes and we caught the lot. We walked out and noticed a lot op people gathering nearby obviously for the little show so we got a good seat in a bar had a few beers and waited. It was kinda cheesy but also quite cool. Afterwards Bill wanted to visit a few more churches but we didnt fancy the high climb to them so walked down to the waters edge to see a fountain and then hopefully a Pizza somewhere. We got the fountain but nothing was open we walked for ages and even ended up by one of the churches we didnt want to climb too and then eventually back to the Piazza, we tried a few places but they didnt sell pizzas can you figure it no restaurants in Italy selling pizzas, we eventually found one right opposite the ships security entrance, it was open, they sold pizzas and kit was busy and bloody hot inside mainly due to the pizza oven but we sat down and all had a nice meal and wine and beers. We finished up and got back to the ship for about 3pm and went back to our rooms, we all fancied a little 30 minute power nap before the quiz again up on deck. We met again at a little after 4pm and got seated for the quiz 15 questions on worlds geography. Not so good today we even joined forces as a 4 Bill was still missing. We scored 9 out of 15 and came nowhere, we stayed for the sail away at 5pm and got the message it might be a little choppy leaving so Lorna was panicking again. We went back to the rooms to get ready for tonights meal in the main restaurant. After our showers we all met in JJ and Brandons room for pre drinks. Then we headed up to the main restaurant for a nice meal and a wine. We were all feeling a bit worn out so at the end of the meal we all decided that would would have a early night as we were also 2 hours ahead now it felt later than it was so a nice long sleep tonight.
