Day 7

Well after a terrible nights sleep we decided to head off early and get the heck outa town. It didn’t really have much to offer and the hotel was the local smokers den the room stunk all night of cigarette smoke and it kept us awake. Even Lorna thought it was disgusting. Anyway we knew we had better things to look forward to and we promised ourselves that we would stay in a nice hotel for a few days maybe even a week and use it as a base. Unfortunately the quickest way to where we were heading meant we had to stay on Route 50 for some 100 miles, we just kept saying to ourselves that it was disappearing behind us never to be seen again. After about 3 hours we arrived in the Colorado Springs area and the scenery started to change dramatically. For a start we had to use the steering wheel and the horizon was closer thanks to the snow capped mountains. We drove around town and stopped outside a hotel that looked as if it had what we needed and rather cheekily turned on the laptop and borrowed there wireless
connection to have a look around via their website. We decided this was the place and checked in. What a lovely hotel this turned out to be. It’s in a great location and the rooms are beautiful. Our room has its own gas fire and even a heated toilet seat. We went out for a brisk walk and I purchased some hiking boots and then decided to come back to the hotel where I had some work to catch up on. So sorry not much today but we are going on lots of touristy things tomorrow and promise a good show.
