Day 9
Well Thunder Bay did not look any better after a nights sleep and the sun was even out, so we decided to get out of town and head for Winnipeg, we knew we were not going to make it but we left in the Sat Nav as our destination so we knew how many miles was left to go before we stopped. En-route we stopped for lunch in Fort Francis which was nice the other really weird thing was that this was also across the river from the US, only this time it was only about 400 meters, well strange. After this we took the Trans Canada Highway on towards various towns that we would see if they were worth stopping at, we finally decided on Kenora, it was another town by the lakes and we checked into the Best Western hotel right on the lake. Its a bit dated in design but the inside looks like its been renovated since it was built which we think might have been in the late 60’s or early 70’s, very retro. We drove into the downtown part and looked for a restaurant, we found one but walked out after waiting ages to be seated and then nobody came to our table for even longer, so we went round the corner to a pub/restaurant over the road from the lake, the food was ok and after we ate we had a nice walk around the lake front and looked around the sea planes, we took a few photos and watched the sun set and went back to the hotel for a nightcap in the bar. Tomorrow is a fairly easy trip to Winnipeg about 300km and we might stay there for a couple of days, we wont know until we get there.
