Day 9 Abu Dhabi
Good morning so last night when we got back to our rooms there was a note saying that all the excursions to the Yas Island were cancelled, which was a bummer so we decided that we would get a taxi to the circuit and see if we can have a little look around without the expense of the tour, we got off the ship and walked over to the taxi rank we asked if they took credit cards which they don’t so we were not quite sure what to do then the guy said if you use his other service which was like a tour operator we could pay buy CC and go to the track the other thing he said was that we could not get a taxi there because they are not allowed to stay in the enclosure and we would struggle getting one back, he agreed 65 Euros for the 4 of us and he would stay there until we were done. We were well please with this and he called over his driver Siaed (not sure on spelling) who asked us what vehicle we would like to we opted for a transit bus as the 4 of us get a bit cramped in cars, so we had the bus to ourselves and the driver was really chatty, we got to the F1 track and he got us pass security and up to the main entrance, he parked up and then took us up to the cafe which looks over the track there was a mock F1 car there for you to try and get in and out of which the girls really struggled with Colm couldn’t get his legs in at all, it was funny watching though. We watched as a load of Ferrari’s blasted by for a while and then decided we should have a go on the Karts, our driver took us to registration ands then said we should find him at the bus when we were done. The girls decided not to have a go so me and Colm got suited up and had a 15 minute blast around the track, it was a laugh and as it was just the 2 of us we aimed for the fasted lap time. At the checkered flag I had apparently managed to get the fasted lap time this month and was pleased to take the pose on the podium. We were meant to came back after this but we cheekily asked our driver if he could just pass by Ferrari world so we could have a quick look, he agreed and stopped right outside and said he would be back at 4pm we have about 20 minutes to have a look around we didnt have full entrance so no roller coasters but it was great looked in the shop at some of the ridiculous items for sale and the prices, we were outside just after 4 and Siaed rocked up and we got in the bus and made our way back to the ship, when we got back we gave the driver 100 Euros and thanks hime for the tour, we would have paid about 5 times this amount with the ship so a great bargain and private tour. We had a drink and then went back to our rooms to get ready for tonights meal, as this is our second week we were now in a different restaurant called the Poseidon
which we hoped would be better than the Lighthouse from last week, we had a few pre drinks in the Pub and went down, it was a nicer feel and our table was right next to a window, however we were surrounded by noisy French group but it wasn’t that bad. The food was OK and it was a better experience overall. After this we walked down to the 6th floor to watch the 70’s show. There are dancers on little tables and the DJ playing typical songs like YMCA and the ceiling is like a huge video wall very impressive. After a while I was ready for bed so I left the 3 to it and got my head down. Lorna crashed in a hour or so later smashed out of head so with a noisy room due to the hi winds and a noisy wife not a great nights sleep me thinks
