Day 10 Qatar

Today we are back in Qatar, this is only because we were meant to be in the Island of Sur Yas Bani again but as it is tendered and the wind are high they diverted to Qatar again, we are grateful because nobody would have got off if it was windy as it takes ages to get back again. Today Colm and Tamsyn decided to have a full day on the ship with the gym and a lazy day in the spa to catch up on work and relax, so Lorna and myself decided when we got out of bed to go into town and see some sites. We shot up to Deck 15 for what we thought to be 11:40am to just catch breakfast but unknown to us the clocks had gone back 1 hour so we were well on time. We had a little breakfast and then get off and caught a taxi to the Katara Cultural Village which was a 20 minute drive and cost 20 Euros. We didn’t know what to expect but when we were here last week the girls were talking to some local ladies and they suggested it so we thought we would give it a go. Its a nice place on the coastline it wasn’t very busy and a bit weird but worth the trip, we stayed for a couple of hours and got some videos and photos and got another taxi back to the ship. Later we arranged to meet up in the champagne bar for a cocktail or 2 which were nice then we wandered up to the teppanyaki restaurant for our dinner appointment for 8pm we were here last week and had a great meal and tonight was no different we asked for another chef not because the last one was bad we just wanted a slightly different experience. We had a great time and after we walked next door to the British Pub for a nightcap. Colm spoke to the singer and had a sing along to his guitar playing which was good and the for some reason Colm and Tamsyn laid on the floor until we realised the singer was singing Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars “If I Lay Here” and then off to bed. Tomorrow is a day at sea on our way down to Oman so maybe not a load to report but who knows.
