Day 21

We went out last night for a nice meal and an early night the place here is very quiet which is great as we get the whole place to ourselves but it does make the evenings a bit quick when your the only two people in the restaurant. Never mind we still prefer it and we have definitely decided that if anyone out there would like to do what we are doing November/December are the best months. Anyway today we had late breakfast and got in the car and drove…

Day 22

We left Springdale today and headed towards Salt Lake City another 5-hour drive, it seems that every destination we set off for ends up being 5 hours away. Well we were not sure if the landscape was going to change, as we were about 3 hours in there were still large mountains and canyons around us. And knowing the promise we made to you all, we were wondering if there was going to be three days of blank pages. Then we got closer to the city and the mountains started…

Day 25

Sorry it’s been a few days since the last entry only we didn’t have much to report back on Salt Lake City. We did a bit of shopping and ate in most nights but mainly chilled re charged the batteries and got ourselves ready for Sundance. So this morning we left at about 10am for the refreshing 1 hour journey to the ski resort of Sundance. We were not sure what to expect, but we had high hopes and when we arrived we were not disappointed. Far from it in…

Day 26

Last night we had a fantastic meal and ended up in the bar with a nice couple and ended up getting blasted, headed off home at about 1:45 and had a great first night. Got up at about 9 ish and skipped breakfast and went straight to the slopes there are only 4 chairs here and we think about 46 runs but the conditions this morning were fantastic and we enjoyed every bit of it. Although limited the lack of other skiers and perfectly prepared runs the days skiing was…

Day 27

Well after yesterdays skiing we decided to do a bit more shopping, the legs were hurting Lorna so we took it easy today, so not much to show. We went to a couple of shopping Mall’s and got all our Christmas shopping so we are now all shopped out. When we got back we had a drink in the bar and then went back to the lodge to rap up the presents and hang the new clothes. We are now getting a bit concerned that we might have to throw…

Day 28

Today we were happy to see a fresh layer of snow had fallen all night and the slopes had about 7 inches of powder on them so we got up and headed off down to breakfast and then hit the slopes. Although it probably looks colder the day was actually quiet warm so we stayed out and skied most if the runs. We got back to base at about 2:30 just in time to go to the Owl Bar and a few après beers. Just as we were going to…

Day 30

Sorry about yesterday not much to report we went out skiing in the morning but Lorna hurt her back in the powder and we both decided that it would be best to pack it in. Shame but we had had enough so we had lunch and packed early ready for today. Which started extra early as our new neighbours who arrived last night kept us awake as they were crashing around unpacking and all taking showers and even after a loud “Excuse me shut the fuck up” from me didn’t…

Day 31

Well today after a good nights sleep (Finally) we headed towards the West coast and the famous Route 1 or CA-1 as its known this is the road that runs between Los Angeles and Leggett some 612 miles long. We joined it at Bodega Bay. Our leg was only 150 miles but with speed limits as low as 20 MPH in places and loads of the local Fuzz on the prowl it took us bloody ages. It didn’t help that it was pissing down with rain either. So we pushed…

Day 32

Today’s push for the North started at about 10am after a good breakfast, but the weather did not change, in fact it rained heavily all night and didn’t look like it was going to stop all day, so we just got on with it and tried our best to ignore it. Only a few miles from where we were staying was the “Avenue of the Giants” which is a 32 mile alternate route through the huge Redwood trees some of which are 16,000 years old and also host of the…

Day 33

The plan was to stop just outside Seattle and rest up and leave a short journey into the city tomorrow, but the weather was so bad we thought it was better just to push on and get to Seattle a day earlier. So after another 9-hour drive we ended up in the rain stricken city of Seattle the drive was horrible and after we settled into our room I was just about ready for bed. The room we have faces the space needle and although high up is rather noisy…
