Day 11

Not a great deal to show today as conditions were a bit on the snowy and cold side and the camera’s kept on steaming up so sorry not a lot today. But as you have probably guessed we got up this morning and hired all our gear for 3 days and headed off up the slopes in what looked like would be a disastrous day. But the conditions were great the slopes were fantastic possibly the best we have skied on. The constant snow and partial white out did not…

Day 12

Well another days skiing on the slopes. The weather was a bit better today although it did still snow later on in the day and visibility was not great, but the slopes were fantastic. Really well prepared the night before and with only a handful of people on the slopes it stayed level all throughout the day. We do not have a ski pass for tomorrow as it gets very busy at the weekends and the pass prices are very high $155 for 3 days each so we will see…

Day 13

The weather didn’t break so we decided to head off towards Utah and eventually Las Vegas. We were warned that a storm was heading our way. So not wanting to get caught out we left the wonderful town of Breckenridge. We took the interstate 70 West as it took in most of the Colorado River and Rockies, which was great to see. However the first 90 minutes was pretty hairy as we were still high up and the roads were covered with snow and ice. So after 2 stressful hours…

Day 14

A long drive today started early in order to get to our destination on time for about 3:00pm Las Vegas. Yes after saying I would never go back Lorna put the thumbscrews on and I gave in. 6 hours after leaving Green River Utah we arrived at the Mirage Hotel on the Strip. The scenery on-route was fantastic and I hope you don’t get bored with more photos of the landscape. You really needed to be there to appreciate it but it made the journey much more enjoyable. We arrived…

Day 15

Ok we both slept in as the extra hour and late night finally meant we had a good nights sleep. After room service breakfast, we changed rooms and booked another two nights. We now have a better outlook and a king bed. I went down the road to buy some bits from Best Buy and Lorna walked down the strip. We had lunch at Planet Hollywood in Caesars and after hit the tables again where Lorna managed to win a further $75. Later on this evening we are eating out…

Day 16

Last night we had dinner in the A la Carte restaurant in the Paris Casino/Hotel, the food was lovely (especially the Soufflé) but the service was a bit rushed. On the whole very nice. The one thing about Vegas is that you can look outside your room window and see across the road a Casino you want to visit and think its going to take you 5 minutes walk, But because the casino’s are so large (often covering 2-3 blocks you end up walking for about 20-30 minutes its crazy.…

Day 17

Today is our last day in Las Vegas and Lorna wants to max out on the days activities. So we started in Denny’s for breakfast and then on to the Stratosphere casino hotel. This place is crazy; it’s basically a huge casino with a tall skinny building that has crazy fairground rides right at the top Including a roller coaster. So after we got to the top we watched idiots strap themselves into various contraptions that throw them off the side of the building or straight up and round and…

Day 18

Slightly worse for wear we packed our bags checked out and left Las Vegas behind us whilst heading towards the Grand Canyon in Arizona. It was a pleasant surprise that we had to cross over the Hoover Dam en-route to the big hole in the ground. It took a lot longer than we thought virtually 5 hours but the scenery was great and we pushed on to try and get there for a reasonable time and to try and get a sunset at the canyon. Well we checked into a…

Day 19

Got up this morning and had breakfast in the hotel and got ready for today’s activities. We checked in for another night so we could take it easy today and get some more photos of the canyon and see a bit more of it in sunlight. We went up to where we were planning on staying first of all, a hotel called El Tovar but the late check in time and high prices put us off but the views up there were great. There was also a very friendly squirrel…

Day 20

Well it had to happen but today we got busted by the FUZZ for speeding. We left Grand Canyon this morning at 9:30 ready for our 5 hour drive to Zion National Park and the town of Springdale. It all started well but at about half way through the journey a cop car passed me the other way whilst I was doing 81mph and he slammed on the brakes and U turned and pulled me up. Well as you can imagine Lorna found this all very amusing, but I on…
